Welcome to kennel & cattery Kalabalik!Japanese Spitz and Norwegian Forestcat
The owner of the name Kalabalik is me, Tina Ehnström-Backas, a teacher who loves spending time with her big family! :) I live in Espoo together with my husband and our two daughters Tindra and Tilda. We have also got one Japanese spitz: Emiko and our Norwegian forestcats. I got my first Japanese spitz in the beginning of 1991, FIN CH Pikkuhukan Baby, aka Baby. I owe my love for the breed to her; she has given me a lot of wonderful memories and taught me a lot about how to train dogs and how to communicate with them. Baby and her daughter Dinga (Pikkuhukan Darling) lived their whole life with my parents in Vasa and left us in Septeber 2006. Mixi was born in Vasa in 1996, the same year as I moved to Helsinki to study history. She is already 10 years old now and is retired from shows and agility. I have never met a happier dog than Mixi, it seems like she is smiling all the time! Mixi left us 13 years old in 2009... Luckily our Italian import Emiko is keeping us company since October 2006. I was the chairman of the Finnish Japanese Spitz Association 2005-2009. I am also the chairman in our local club Espoon Koirakerho where I train Rally obedience. I have taken a course in breeding and I am both a steward on shows and an agility instructor. We bought our first NFO in October 1997, a five months old blue male called Miini. I could never imagine what consequences this big boy would lead to; we were totally sold and two years later we bought his little sister Pyret. We have had four litters so far, from the first litter we kept a tortie with lots of white (Nena) and from the second litter we kept a silvertortie called Bellona. My goal is to breed healthy and good tempered cats and dogs that the owner can spend many happy years with. My puppies and kittens are sold as pets, their most important mission is to keep their new family company. I try to stay in touch with all owners and I am very happy for messages and cards telling me that the family is satisfied with their familymember! :) I would like to remind people that also old animals need attention, love and training in their own way. I think it is the owner's responsibility to take care of the animal from the beginning to the end and personally I could never give away an old dog or cat only because it is too old to have puppies or kittens. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about Japanese Spitzes, Norwegian Forestcats or want to know more about our breeding.
